Best in Fair Award Categories
Each category winner will receive $25.00 and the Best in Fair winner will receive an additional $25.00. Total awards of $300.00. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (if enough orchids are submitted, and at the discretion of the judges) in each category. A certificate and a Best in Fair ribbon will also be awarded to each category winner. The Special Judging Category award is at the discretion of the head of judging. Plant registration will take place during setup the day before the fair on Friday, from 4pm to 6pm. As you enter the Vendor area of the Melbourne Auditorium through the main entrance, the plant registration area will be to your left. A table will be located at the entrance to the registration area near the Display Room and members should bring their plants to this area for registration. In an effort to speed up the plant registration process, a Registration Form is now available. This form is available on the website and copies will be available at the General Membership meeting in October. If you intend to register plants at the Fair, please fill out the form and bring it with you during the registration process. The Exhibitor Letter will be assigned during registration, but if you know the Judging Category for each plant, go ahead and fill it in. A few extra copies of the form will be available at the Auditorium. Terry Copija and Dave Siegrist will be in the registration area during setup so that individual plants can be tagged with an exhibitor letter and they will keep a record of the exhibitor name associated with each assigned letter. This record-keeping allows us to identify the award winners for the preparation of checks and award certificates after the Judges have completed their task on Saturday morning. During registration and setup on Friday, members are asked to remain clear of the Display Room so that Mary & Steve DeSorbo and their team can complete the busy task of preparing the Display Room. All plants that are to be registered for judging will be inspected for pests or disease by Dave Siegrist or Terry Copija. This is to insure the safety of all plants in the Display Room. Any plant found to have problems will not be registered and must be removed from the Auditorium. Note that a plant without a name tag may still be submitted for registration. Terry and Dave will also do an inspection of the vendor plants in the Display Room to insure that they are pest/disease free and that the plants submitted by the Vendors are of high quality. Judging by selected BCOS members will take place Saturday, at 9am. Register your blooming beauties and you might win some cash! |
